What is shell cordovan? It is a type of leather made from the rump area of a horse. This specific cut of leather is usually reserved for upscale bags, wallets, and shoes. The high grease, oil, and fat content of shell cordovan enables it to resist creasing. However, the leather would continue to patina, giving each strap a unique tone through long term ownership. Our shell cordovan leather is tanned and imported from Japan while the backing is lined with a natural calf leather imported from a small tannery in Italy. The result, a watch strap with a distinguishing character that can withstand the test of time.
